A sheet mulching job well done by CCNB Corpsmembers and Program Coordinators Gabi and Jordan!

Warm fall wishes, Daily Actor,

Tuning into cycles and transitions is a powerful practice— be it starting and closing the day, week, month, or season. With so much heaviness and heartbreak in the world, tuning into these natural cycles reminds us that renewal and change are always possible.

At Daily Acts, we’re leaning into hopeful action, creating climate-resilient, beautiful spaces that strengthen our connection to the land and each other.

This summer alone, through our LRP Program we’ve installed:

  • 14 laundry-to-landscape greywater systems, redirecting 10-40 gallons per laundry load to landscapes instead of the sewer
  • 10 lawns conversions, improving soil health, creating habitat, and saving 125,550 gallons of water every year
  • 7 rain tanks, capturing 8,545 gallons of rainwater, diverting stormwater runoff and reducing water demand

These installations were made possible by engineering design support from Sonoma Resource Conservation District, rain tank installation support from ALT Water, greywater installation support from The Water Folk, and sheet mulching support from Conservation Corps North Bay Corpsmembers who get paid green workforce training!

Rain tank incoming! ALT Water used a bobcat to get the rain tank into the existing garden.

We LOVE seeing our project recipients excited about their climate-resilient landscape improvements. Liz, who received a 3,000 gallon rain tank in her sunflower-filled garden, shared that “we're really excited to use the water that’s gonna come off of our roof to water our fruit trees and garden!”

What if these small-scale solutions spread beyond our community? This month, our very own Trathen Heckman and Emily Nodal will be attending Localizing California Waters to highlight examples from around the state demonstrating how small actions to connect land, water and people can add up to healthy and thriving watershed communities.

We hope to see you at one of our many, exciting upcoming events this season!

With Gratitude,
Drea Casali
Communications Coordinator
