| Dear Daily Actor, Last month, our friends at Cool Petaluma hosted a screening of the powerful documentary Join or Die. In it, Harvard professor and social scientist Robert Putnam shines a light on a sobering truth: over the past several decades, our communities have become increasingly disconnected. Fewer neighbors know each other. Civic engagement has declined. And loneliness has reached epidemic levels. In a world filled with suffering and injustice, it’s easy to feel isolated and powerless. But Join or Die reminds us of something essential—connection is not only possible, it’s vital. And it starts with us. |

| The good news? We already have what we need to begin rebuilding. Whether it’s checking in with a neighbor, joining a local group, volunteering, or sharing knowledge at community events, these small acts create ripple effects. Together, they build stronger, more resilient communities where people feel seen, supported, and empowered. |
